I wasn't sure if the automated message was a scam or not but two things told me it might be: 1) They gave no name of my bank but just called themselves 'bank security', and 2) I was told that a purchase had been made in my Amazon account for a large amount (around £700) and that a cheque was made to my bank account for £1,000.
