APPLIANCES SCAM CALLS: LIVE DATA
The home appliance scam consists of a caller from an unknown number informing you that your washing machine warranty is about to expire. The recipient of the call doesn’t have insurance, not with this supposed company anyway.
A scam that many elderly people have fallen victim to, the scammers will try and convince you to pay a small fee to renew your insurance policy. Hoping you already have an insurance policy from when you bought your appliances, many people may think it’s the same company.
You may receive a lot of calls over the course of the day, with the scammers conducting high-pressure tactics to convince you to take out their policy. The callers will either be from a shady insurance company that will charge you an expensive monthly premium, or they are just after your bank details. If the latter, they will attempt to take as much money out of your bank account as possible.
