Phone scam data » Energy

Energy scams are common in the UK, with the scammers cold calling people informing them there is a government scheme in place to reduce the amount of energy used in their home.

The caller will ask for your personal details before trying to arrange an appointment for one of their surveyors to check if your property meets the requirements. A high-pressure tactic they use is telling you the government grants are limited, so you need to act now in order to receive yours. This could be to have your loft-insulation thickness checked and replaced if too thin, or you need a new boiler, or your double-glazing needs replaced.

The surveyor will no doubt find some sort of issue if granted access to your property. Afterward offering to carry out the work at a highly inflated price. If you think you could use the services they are offering, contact a local reputable company that you can research on your own.
