Stacey Wilson from this con rang me several times about my slow internet fix! She even got me installing teamviewer quick support app with an I'd number, thankfully because I'm not computer savvy wasn't able to complete the permissions allow part for her to help me, otherwise she would have access to my iPad. Have changed all passwords and reset iPad as a precaution, but had a lucky escape from this scam!

So - Our BT internet went offline two nights ago. The following morning at 0730 we had a call on the landline from someone claiming to be from BT. Something was off about the call, and it felt genuine until I was asked to go to my computer and type in an address. When questioned politely, the caller hung up. Meanwhile, we had contacted BT directly, reported the outage and arranged an engineer the following morning ( today at the time of writing). This morning, again at 0730, we had another call from someone claiming to be from BT. However, also something said about Virgin media ... so a tad confusing. For clarity, I asked the caller to confirm that 1. They were from BT, and 2. to give me my customer number, and 3. to provide me with a number I could call them back on. The caller gave their name as STACY WILSON, assured me politely she was from BT, and the BT contact number was 0203 129 2367. When I asked her to confirm she insisted that Same request, that I go online and type an address into the browser to locate the customer number ... when I pointed out that this was going to be a problem as I had no internet connection, the caller humng up... I think its a coincidence that the calls came in at the same time as we'd lost internet, at least I hope so, but the point is, due to the reluctance to verify their identity - or my customer number - the caller only deepened suspision that some scam was underway. The caller was charming and convincing. Had we an internet connection, how easy it would have been to have followed instructions, and unwittingly given them access to the household PC. Checking the number provided online sent me here and confirmation that the caller was bogus. How depressing.

I have just received a call from this number, very convincing lady saying we were having problems with Internet connection at times and she was phong to fix it. When I explained I couldn't do what she asked now and how did I know the call was genuine, she said there was an urgency to this as a number of people are trying to hack into our internet and I needed to do this with urgency. She is due to phone back in the next hour. I will explain I know it's a scam and have reported this. Im so grateful for this site. It is worrying though, others could be persuaded.

01 - 08 - 18 Experienced exactly the same situation as described by others. Had 2 automated calls today saying Internet class 1 and class 2 would be disconnected today because there was hacking going on. Pressed 1 and indian/far-eastern lady answered. Very persuasive, nearly let it happen but v pleased that I insisted for a number to call back, but - this number, she was v reluctant.
Would like to show my name but wary

Hi - had the call described by others here, claiming to be from talktalk - event gave me my name and address when I asked them to verify they were talktalk as they had rung me rather than vice versa (clearly my details have been sold, related to the talktalk data breach a few years ago perhaps?) Anyway when the man with the Indian accent asked me to login to my computer I immediately pulled the Ethernet cable out and asked him for a phone number so I could call him back. I got the 0203 1292367 and googled it which led straight to this site - thanks for saving me as the caller was pretty convincing.

These people have called me 4 times in two weeks they say they are from BT

Received an "automated call" from "Talk Talk technical centre at 8am on a Saturday morning, saying they were about to cut off my connection as I had problems with it (which is true on occasion). On pressing to continue a lady with an India accent said she wanted to "show me the problem of the intermittent connection in front of my eyes" and send me a new router if necessary. She asked me to Run a command on my computer - and only on waking up more fully on the call (this was first thing on a Saturday morning) did I think to ask to call them back. The lady was very pushy saying "don't you believe me?" in a way that no customer service representative would. The number given was the one above. A near miss.

Called today by a woman claiming to be from TalkTalk, called herself Flora Joseph. Heavy Indian accent and difficult to understand. Asked me to check the PC registry and then was about to give me website instructions to "clear errors". I asked to call her back before I did anything more. The number she gave (02031292367) was unobtainable. Clearly a scam.

A guy with an Indian accent called saying there were problems with the internet and said he was from talk talk. He said he would show me the problems if I logged onto my laptop and then he could fix them. I told him there was no way I getting onto my laptop and asked for his number. He gave me the number 0203 129 2367. I told him I would call him back if I experienced any connection problems then said goodbye and ended the call. About 10 seconds later the phone rang again and it was the same guy. He called me a mother****ing a**h**e and hung up. Nice people!

My 82 year old father received a phone call this morning from this phone number. The caller had an Indian accent and said he was from Talk Talk. My dad could not understand his accent and the caller passed the phone to a female who also had an Indian accent. They asked him to press various keys on his computer which he started doing but did not complete this. They said they will ring back tomorrow at 2 pm. Dad rang me and I googled the telephone number and learned this is definitely a scam.

Told her I would ring her back at 5pm. She said Talk Talk closes at 4pm!! Another scammer. Wanted me to enter eventvwr (event viewer) into computer. Kept making her repeat the information she wanted entered while I checked on phone number etc. ANOTHER SCAMMER

Another campaign from this number. Three calls in two days. Two different men and one woman have called, all with Indian subcontinent accents, saying they are from TalkTalk Technical and saying that they have received reports about internet connection problems. I ask for the phone number every time and one of them gave it to me. 02031292367. The previous caller told me to go to hell when I asked him for his phone number and he hung up! Usually I hang up after I have told them that I know they are NOT from TalkTalk.
