'John Shaw' Windows department. I wasted over an hour of his time. Scammer.

"John Shaw" with a heavy Indian accent has just called me and tried the well known Windows support centre scam on me. He did give this number 0203 630 0338 for me to call them back. From earlier posts, this number is known to be part of the scam and calling it will incur more costs. Why hasn't this number been shut down?

I received a call from that number on 27 Feb 2018. THe man, who had a strong Asian accent, gave his name as Peter. He quoted a 17-character Certificate ID no. He then said my antivirus wasn't working. When I queried this, he said something about needing satellite protection (!). Absurdly, I fell for this and paid £287 on my credit card for a software update. It gets worse. He phoned back again a couple of hours later and said I had attempted to make a payment using my card, but it would not go through as thay had a tie-in with PayPal and I needed to make the payment through them. I was assured that the first payment would either not go through to my credit card account, or would be swiftly cleared if it did. So I made the payment again, only this time the amount was £295. When I got my credit card statement, surprise surprise both amounts were showing up. I have called back on the number several times since, and they assure me that my complaint is being looked into and I will soon get at least one of the amounts back. But, 6 weeks later, nothing has happened. The credit card company say they cannot do anything, as I have nothing in writing. Yes, of course I've been a complete pillock, but is there anything I can do?

Just had a call from a man with a heavy accent telling me my computer was being hacked and would be unusable soon, wanted me to give him access to 'block' the hacker, apparently windows 10 had sent back a report. I kept him on the phone asking silly questions, he kept saying he would give me my 'licence' number, which he did all 37 numbers, to prove he wasn't a scammer, he was going to show me how to access this number. I said my husband would have to do it, his voice changed, he asked where my husband was, I said out and asked for his phone number to call back - he said 02036300338 and his name was John, he hung up on me!! He sounded very annoyed. When I checked the number of the last call to my phone it was 011312048709

Just received call saying they were from Microsoft informing me that errors had shown up on my pc in the last 2 months, told them that this was a scam, I requested his phone number, which I was given the above number, he asked me when I was going to ring back, I said it would be later, his reply was that my computer will be blocked from their end if I don't cooperate., I then hung up.
