With regard to the many comments about telecom companies not doing anything about these calls, they don't exist to provide a service - that is anathema to them (might reduce their profits).
Just a thought, maybe they are behind the calls to get us to subscribe (at a price of course) to their call blocking services.

Called all morning getn getting really enoying
Today (Sunday) have between 0810 and 20.00 had 47 calls, when are BT and Offcom going to get their act together and give us a service we deserve ? We pay enough and now they have started charging us for caller display.
Annoying third party Text to speech translator service, calls at stupid times. Incidentally after I decided to pick up (10:05pm!!) the message was from an insurance firm we asked for a quote from. You think they'd call us themselves if they actually wanted us to consider using them...

Seven Calls Yesterday Sunday between 9 am and 9pm 6 today Between 8am and 10.38 it is rubbish that you can not stop this with out paying on your account. I am disabled and my father in law is partially sighted and has to get to the phone.

Had 2 phone calls from this number one after the other, gave 2 different PIN numbers for eBay , no idea what it was all about.
For me it was merely an automated call from my landlord (housing association) reminding me to stay home for my repair appointment the following day.

I had a very garbled message from this number - and on reading other peoples posts seems they have had the same. The message did mention an ebay pin so I will report to ebay as this is not good PR for them. Clearly it is some sort of scam - but what? My message did not tell me to call anyone - but I suppose the fact that I did 1471 to get the number and then googled it tells me I was interested. If I didn't have google I may have just 'returned the call' - and maybe that is where the scam starts. Would be interested if anyone knows what it is.
just had a call from this number with a message saying a text message from a number then a group of numbers what the hell is that about??
Sick to death of this caller,I do not want to buy anything, & I owe no one any money, if its a registered number it needs looking into.
Rang saying something about an account, these scammers need dealing with, if they are a registered number with bt etc surely they can be prosecuted, be aware!!!!
This number has rang me twice, each time saying a different figure. I also thought it said something about bacon?????? The message is quick and unclear. First called at 10pm then following morning at 8am. How can it be stopped?
