That's a scam, asking to pay my taxes otherwise I go to the court. Indiana accent

The number should be officially HMRC but if you go through the call they will ask for your name meaning that they don't know who are they talking with, hence is a scam. Not sure how they manage to obfuscate their number behind this one as it is a legit HMRC number. If you call back you'll be in line with the HMRC.

Anyway, the lady asked me if I was someone, an my no she asked for my details (classic scammer) and when I said that I won't provide that on phone she just hang the call.

Rule n1: If someone call and ask for details, tell them to f**k off
Rule n2: if someone e-mail you and ask for your details, tell them to f**k off

i received this call an hour ago. automatic caller started saying that is from the legal department of something. I didn't listen further and ended the call. I can see other reports for scam, but it seems the phone is actually from the https://www.gov.uk/pay-court-fine-online. weird. still I think it's a scam

I have a letter today asking me to pay a fine of £350.00. I find it very suspicious because the letter does not specify what sort of crime I have committed. I find it extremely annoying because I
had to contact the government via their website and sent the letter to them for investigation purpose. No government letter would include your date of birth on the heading as 'born: xxxxx'. And, no government correspondence would put your name underneath the letter front and back. Stupid.
I am not stressed because I know it is not official letter but I find it alarming that my name, my address and my birthday haves been hacked. This is personal information, it is not nice to be known by strangers.

Received today (23/02/15) a letter purporting to be from the Greater Manchester Accounts and Enforsmen Unit, stating I owe £335 in an unpaid fine. It does not state the supposed offence or the date of the court order. Also worrying was the fact How are they getting my address. However, apparently payment can be made 'By Phone' on, yes, 0300 790 9901. Obviously a scam as I have not incurred a fine but to the unwary it has all the correct addresses and telephone numbers except the payment line. The first thing that made me suspicious was that it was printed on red paper and attached to what would appear to be a photocopy of an official court pamphlet so it is an amateurish attempt but nonetheless one that can worry someone not used to being watchful for scams.
