I have incurred monthly fees to 'moonlight' on my mobile number of over €230!! I feel sick! I have a child fighting leukaemia so have enough of a battle on my plate without this added stress. Told 3 that it was a scam and got them to bar 'premium rate numbers' from my phone which hopefully it will! They cannot issue refunds! Completely gutted....

These texts have been sent to my daughters phone and it has cost an additional £30.00 per month for the last 3 months. She has blocked the number now, but will this stop the charges? Any advice would be welcome.

Just discovered a phone bill for for texts sent to my daughter from the number 87066. A popup tempts you with a competition. You agree to their terms and conditions but what you are agreeing to if you can make any sense of the T&C's is to receive texts from Tap2Bill Ltd who then charge you for the privilege. This appears to be a legal scam from company directors of Tap2Bill ltd (one Mr Michael David Sean Jefferies and Mr Timothy Newmarch based c/1 Immobile PLC, Tempus Court, Bellfield Road, High Wycombe, Bucks, HP13 5HA) To stop these texts you can text STOPALL and be charged another £4.50 or phone them on 03330030581 (from a landline and incur a smaller charge) and ask them to stop texting. Also email them so you have some proof of record on customer.service@tap2bill.com. Nice guys who you really hope enjoy all the money they make off unsuspecting phone users.

Below is the best description I can write of a scam I have just discovered. I find it difficult to understand why the phone companies can't jointly do something about this type of operation. They are party to it because I am sure they are receiving revenue from this operation. I would be very annoyed if I as a customer, paying for network services and the scam companies who are making a fortune from ripping off other loyal customers of a telephone company were getting their network service free. Where it is obvious from many reports like this the telephone companies should be required to check the type of competitions that they are indirectly receiving an income from.
I am confident there must be some requirement under the abuse of the telecommunications act that the companies must ensure proper use of their network. Irrespective of the legality, companies don't need to be partners to a company that operate in an area that is not good for their image.
The company who uses this worst offending premium text is a company operating legally and registered with the 'Regulating body', Payphone Plus. But now we come to the crux of the matter. I understand that the regulating company is funded by the companies who operate the premium numbers. We have been over this ground before with other 'respectable' organizations with 'light touch and self regulation'.
It would be interesting to hear views on this from more authoritative sources than my self.

I only discovered last week that this scam was happening in April 2016 and explained why my credit was diminishing fast on my O2 account back in April 2016.I moved my number from pay-as-you-go with O2 to a contract with BT on 26/7/2016. The information I am giving now is from investigations I carried out over the last week and from charging records supplied by Glotext.

I received an unsolicited text to my mobile ‘To confirm my entry to the new £500 M&SCard comp.,simply reply MARKS 87066. Please ignore if not requested’. If they were unsure if I requested this text then why did they send it? Their record then shows that there was a reply of MARKS from my phone. More texts followed telling me I had joined this competition and I could stop by responding STOP to the premium text number and it gave a help number 0161983002. No replies are recorded from my phone to these repeated texts up until 23/8/2016 but the weekly charge of £4.50 continued. If there was credit on my phone the money was taken but if there was no credit they recorded a debt against me. By 23/8/2016 they had taken about £50 and I had a debt of another £50. I was totally unaware of all of this going on until I moved the number to BT and one of these texts arrived again. My immediate reaction was to delete the text as a scam but on second thoughts I decided NOT to reply STOP to the premium number but ring the help line. I ended up hanging on a recorded message for some time and eventually it asked me to leave a message and they would get back to me. I am still waiting. I also checked the internet by inserting the help number into my browser and came up with many distressed people who had been conned by this SCAM and they did not know how to stop this robbery. Many of them thought they were entering a one of M&S competition and assumed this gave it authenticity.

In my opinion this type of competition ensnares many people by devious methods to respond once, possibly unintentionally, and it locks them into continual charging. I am sure the telephone company is receiving revenue from this operation and are therefore culpable in facilitating the charging. Its time for the telephone companies to protect their loyal customers.

They have charged me for a weekly text on premium services since March 2016 yet nothing is being received and never aware ~I was signing up for a service?

This number has cost me £18 not happy how do I stop it?

  • By Anonymous

I have just received a charge of £15 plus my normal monthly bill from these people for a phone I use for emergencies only. My bill is only ever £9 a month. I spoke to O2 and it seems I have to cough up the £15. I received no offer of a refund for this fraudulent cost. I have been with O2 for years and have never subscribed to any premium numbers. Surely there should be some safeguards or checks on what is put on phone bills.

I did not subscribe to this company,so would like to claim a refund.l have tried to stop it but it would not accept it.this has been going on since January 2016 £310.00 has been taken from my account.

I am very aware of scams and am quite au fait with the Internet and premium rate numbers etc. I have had over £20 taken from me in June and early July by this number. By my calculations theres another £20 on the next bill. Just spoken to Three.co.uk who are my suppliers and am awaiting a call back from them. There should be a blanket ban on such sites

I've noticed several charges on my account to this premium number without my knowledge or authorisation. How do I stop this fraudulence and get a refund?
