My wife answered this call. Caller claimed to be from Microsoft and wanted to sort out the problem on the computer. My wife ony has a laptop which works perfectly well, so she quickly ended the call. Dialling 1471 to find out the number the first time seemd to automatically ringback to a mobile number. The second attempt at 1471 revealed the number and after that the line was clear.

Today, an Asian gent took the trouble to call me and introduced himself as Jim Carter to talk about my computer. Once I informed him that I didn't have one, he said he meant the laptop. I told him that had been stolen by a bad person, which flummoxed him; during the pause I asked him which co he was calling from. I was advised that it wasn't a company, but a "Service Centre" - which is nice. When asked who paid his wages then, he told me it want my business. When I then asked him to remove my number from his database, he replied 'No, shut up!' and hung up on me! TBH, I was disappointed as I wanted to talk to him about his life's journey from being the US President in the late 70's, the alcoholic DC in The Bill in the 90's, recently as Mr Carson in Downton, prior to his latest appearance at an Asian call centre, sorry "Service Centre". Maybe we can pick up next time he calls back, we were getting on so well....;-)

Thursday 11.40hrs, Asian gentleman rang and stated that I had a problem with my computer, I thanked him and put the phone down. He then proceeded to ring four times more, each time I said I was not interested, on the last call he called me "a very stupid man". At this point the red mist descended and I told him I would be checking the number and passing it on to BT as a nuisance call,(or words to that effect) ,
L he never rang back !

Scam call. Pretending to be from Microsoft claiming that you have a problem with your computer (TOTALLY FALSE) and wanting to take control remotely. If you agree they will download a virus/hack and clone your identity. This is a WELL KNOWN and documented scam.

Rec'd call at 4.20pm, today, June 19th, supposedly from "Windows Centre". Heavy Asian accent. Probably originating in India or Palistan. This is a con merchant scam outfit.
Something, for want of a better word, should be done.
