Area Code 08 - Information and activity

Business rate numbers always have the same two-digit prefix - 08. They find their use in many organisations for various purposes such as client and troubleshooting service and tech-support, etc.

The main perk of using a 08 number, besides the obvious (special call rates) is that they aren’t in any way linked to any geographical location.

There are only 3 business Rate prefixes active: 0843, 0844 and 0845.

These phone numbers are regulated by the Phone-paid Services Authority (PSA).

How much does it cost to call a Business rate number?

The cost of contacting a business rate number vary but are always composed of two separate charges

  • The service charge that your provider charges, between 0p to up-to 7p.
  • The access charge that was previously set by whoever you are calling. These costs may greatly vary depending on who your provider is, but normally it can be from 8p to 65p per minute.
